Yankee Air Museum Wins Henry Ford Heritage Award

At its annual celebration honoring Henry Ford’s birthday, on July 30, the Henry Ford Heritage Association awarded Yankee Air Museum its 2018 Friend of Ford Award for Organizations.

The Museum and Foundation were proud to have received this award recognizing its work to preserve and share one of the most fascinating but often forgotten stories in Ford Motor Company history.

Yankee Air Museum now owns the only remaining portion of the famous Willow Run Bomber Plant built by Ford. We are hard at work renovating it to preserve Willow Run’s history of groundbreaking and world-changing technology— specifically Ford’s assembly line system for building B-24s that allowed workers to build enough air power so that the Allies could win World War II.
