The Yankee Air Museum, the Willow Run Bomber Plant, and the Yankee Lady B-17 need your help today!
Recently, we were informed that Hangar One at Willow Run Airport, where Yankee Air Museum keeps its flyable historic aircraft, will be decommissioned in 2019.
We have determined that the most cost effective, efficient solution is constructing two 15,000 sq.ft. hangar bays inside our preserved portion of the historic WWII-era Willow Run Bomber Plant.
This project is currently the highest priority in the Save the Bomber Plant Campaign. Over 40% of Yankee Air Museum’s yearly income comes from our Air Adventures program, which offers flights on our historic airplanes. So raising money for a new aircraft hangar inside the Willow Run Bomber Plant is essential to keeping the Yankee Air Museum going, and essential to our continuing campaign to save, preserve and renovate the historic Willow Run Bomber Plant to become the Museum’s future new home.
We urgently need your support to build this hangar!

The Yankee Lady B-17 Flying Fortress, the Yankee Warrior B-25 Mitchell, the Hairless Joe C-47 Skytrain and the WACO YMF-5C open cockpit biplane all thank you for helping to provide them with a much-needed new home!
Hangar Replacement FAQs:
Are the two new hangars an addition to the existing Bomber Plant?
No. The two hangars are being built within the existing structure.
Why are we building two hangars instead of one?
Not only is this the most cost-effective plan, it also allows for more fluid movement of our aircraft and for the buildout of the rest of the new museum.
Are there any other hangar options?
We considered all alternatives, and we have also chosen the best option for the museum.
Why are we moving out of our current hangar space?
As of December 31, 2019 the current hangar can no longer be used for aeronautical purposes.
Is this going to affect the availability of rides in our historic aircraft (Air Adventures program)?
No. Our Air Adventures rides in the Yankee Lady B-17, the Yankee Warrior B-25, the Hairless Joe C-47 and the WACO YMF-5C Biplane will continue as they always have.
Is this going to delay the completion of the new museum inside the Willow Run Bomber Plant?
No. This is the start of the buildout of the new museum.
How will my gift be used?
