"The Story of Willow Run," (33 minutes, black and white) is a 1940s-era Ford Motor Company promotional film that provides a fascinating and detailed look at Ford's Willow Run Bomber Plant, near Ypsilanti, Michigan. The plant produced over 8,600 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers during World War II on the world's first aircraft assembly line. At peak capacity, one four-engined B-24 rolled out the door every hour, for flight testing on-premises at Willow Run Airport. The plant employed up to 42,000 workers, as many of a third of which were women. Also included on the DVD is the WWII-era government film short, "Women on the Warpath," (10 minutes, color) filmed at Willow Run.
